Will You Be the Victim of a Vehicle Burglary?
DO YOU…
- Leave your vehicle doors unlocked at night or when unattended because… "There’s nothing in it anyone would want?"
- Leave money or change in your ashtray or console?
- Leave your cell phone charger cord dangling from the socket?
- Leave valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle but feel it’s safe..."Because your door is locked?"
THEN YOU…
- Could very well become the victim of a Vehicle Burglary!
Vehicle Burglary is a crime that is frequently committed and can be prevented. Most vehicle burglars are opportunists and will only break into a vehicle if they can see something of value inside. If everyone will follow a few simple rules, we can prevent this crime from happening.
NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE .
The best way to prevent this crime is to remove the temptation. Secure your valuables including your cell phone, radar detector, coins, briefcases and anything else you might leave in your vehicle in a place where it cannot be seen from the outside. If it can be seen, the burglar will not hesitate to break out the window to get to it. The best action is to remove these items from the vehicle altogether.
ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLE DOORS.
It would shock you to know how many vehicle burglaries are committed because the victims left their valuables in their vehicles and did not lock the door. An unlocked door also gives the burglar an opportunity to enter your vehicle and look around for anything that might be hidden inside.
If everyone would just do these two simple things, the crime of vehicle burglary would cease to exist. REMEMBER...To Prevent Crime You Must Remove The Opportunity For Crime.
