Jupiter Police Department’s Major E.K.Humphrey to be Honored During 26th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day Services in Washington D.C.
This year, National Police Week, observed May 13-19, 2007, will be especially meaningful for the Jupiter Police Department. Next week, a contingent of sworn JPD personnel and its Honor Guard will participate in ceremonies to honor law enforcement professionals who died in the line of duty. Among those fallen officers is Major E.K. Humphrey, a Jupiter Police Major who died in the line of duty on Friday, September 8, 1995.
Major Humphrey’s name was added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in an engraving ceremony in late April along with 382 other fallen officers. Accompanying Major Humphrey’s family to Washington D.C., the group from Jupiter attended a Candlelight Vigil at the National Law Enforcement Memorial on Sunday, May 13, 2007. On Tuesday, May 15, 2007, the 26th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day Services was held at the United States Capitol, followed by a Wreathlaying Ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial site that afternoon.
The Jupiter Police Department is honored to take part in ceremonies that honor the men and women of Law Enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to remember and honor Major E.K. Humphreys along with his family members.
