Movie Review by Nell Minow:
Video Tip: "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"
Reviewed May, 2001
Disney's straight-to-video sequel to
"The Hunchback of Notre
Dame" (ages 5-10) is better than the original,
with first-class vocal
talent (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Michael
McKean, and Haley Joel Osment join
original stars Kevin Kline, Tom Hulce, and
Demi Moore) in a sweet and
tuneful story that has Quasimodo finding love
with Madeline, the lovely
assistant to a magician/thief. Madeline learns
to believe in herself and
tell the truth and Quasimodo learns that he is
loveable. I especially like
the way that Madeline shows her wicked
master that she can do a lot more
than just "stand there and look pretty."
