Description: This Preserve is owned by The Nature Conservancy. It's comprised of 73 acres of beach, estuary and dunes. Threatened and endangered sea turtles make this preserve their home, as do West Indian manatees, unique birds and other small mammals. Another unique feature of this preserve, are the waves that seem to "blow" up from the holes in the limestone formations along the ocean during rough waters. On some days the water can reach as high as 50 feet into the air! The Hawley Education Center features art and photo exhibits, videos, a butterfly garden and nursery.
What will parents like most? The water spouting through the rocks is a spectacular sight to see.
What will kids like most? Being sprayed by the water if they get too close :-).
